Figurative paintings
can acquire the responsibility of addressing social, environmental
and political issues through visual parables. This combination has
the potential to interact with a wider audience.

Beginning in the mid-eighties, I have worked mainly in series-form.
The "Dog Series" deals with territorial aspects; the "Eagle and
Snake Series" symbolizes the ongoing struggle for survival in a
diminishing environment; and, the "Elizabeth Series" deals with art
and money or the 'purchase of culture.'

Another metaphor for me is the Grizzly Bear, legislated in 1942 as
the California State Mammal, after its demise in 1922 within the state.
There appears to be a direct relationship between its decline and the
growing popularity of Teddy Bears.

The series "Warming Trend" addresses the effects global warming could
have for all living things on earth.
