| Memories of her girlhood in Sonoma County
infuse Jeani Martini's art with a love of the land and sea. Painting
'plein aire' slows her down now, just like riding horseback did back then. The scenery has changed
over the years, from prunes, hops, berry farms, and apples; to acres of
vineyards dotting the hillsides, more houses, and less open space. But there
are still stands of eucalyptus, redwood groves, plenty of rolling hills,
farmland and coastline to appreciate and paint.

"Even though I feel like I am stopping
time by recording the countryside on my canvases, I know time does move on.
But for now I want once more, to stop and take things at a slower pace.
That's what I am striving for. Painting this area is my personal record of Sonoma County."
